“You were my Doctor”
Lovely. Really, really lovely. Time Crash was Moffat and Tennant’s love letter to the Fifth Doctor. And, being the same age as Tennant, he was my Doctor too and I couldn’t agree with them more.
Davison threw himself back into it and it was nice to see an acknowledgment of Tennant as Davison’s natural successor, right down to the clothes he stood up in. The youthful, energetic Doctor, prone to making mistakes from time to time but charming and fun with it. Davison was considered too young by a lot of people, having had a string of older to middle aged Doctors up to that point – and he’s still the youngest actor to have played the part. 29 when he started – even the great David T can’t beat that.
Apart from Tennant himself, that was one of the best things to come out of the last three seasons. The last two mintues is what made me all misty-eyed though…

Enjoyed it, too. Favourite line was “All my love to long ago”. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was the best thing to come out of the last three seasons despite its undoubted quality. For me, that is still “The Impossible Planet” but, agreed, the end of “Time Crash” is, indeed, very poignant.
I hope Graeme Harper is directing Steven Moffat’s Season Four scripts, the combination of which just might turn out to be a bit special…
Thanks for posting this Paul – I actually missed the original transmission on Friday night as me and the hubbie were out! Sacrilege! Thank heavens for You Tube.
I enjoyed it on the whole but felt it was somewhat short – 7-8 minutes is very brief for sufficient exposition and a “story” – and that doesn’t count the Martha/Titanic bits that topped and tailed it (quite cleverly edited it though I felt). We Who fans do seem to get short shrift sometimes – after all it’s the 44th anniversary on Nov 23 and it doesn’t seem that the Beeb have planned anything else, unless I’m mistaken? Anyway it was a nice enough “tribute” and I agree with what the others say about the affectionate quality of the piece – just not massively substantial.
As for Peter D, good to see him back although dare I say he seemed very pompous and shrill, rather more overwrought than his original Fifth Dr persona! Then again, David T was back to his flippant, hyper-active self and one could kind of sympathise with the Fifth Doc’s annoyance with him! Also the technobabble they used to explain his presence didn’t really wash with me – if that’s the case how come the combined presence of the Drs in “The Five Drs” for example didn’t cause them to age? Gawd I’m such a geek…
Hi Simon,
Interesting comments, however I wasn’t expecting anything too meaty, precisely because we knew it was going to be a ’short’. I thought Peter was excellent myself, and Tennant did revert to his babbling persona, which seemed a bit unlikely given everything he’d been through at the end of Season 3, implying he’d got over it all rather quickly!
As for The Five Doctors… Well they DID age didn’t they? Troughton and Pertwee both looked much older than in their original broadcasts – it just wasn’t mentioned.
You’re right actually.
