Red Dwarf Cut Down…

January 29, 2009 Paul Leave a comment

According to these reports from Ganymede.TV, neither Norman Lovett or Chloe Annett will be appearing in the new Red Dwarf episodes. This is a shame and I’ll be interested to see how they get around it. Presumably it won’t follow on directly from the end of Series VIII…?

No Norman and No Chloe

Back To Earth

January 27, 2009 Paul Leave a comment

Hi everyone, this news is a bit late but I was in Malta all of last week and didn’t get around to any updates!

Red Dwarf: Back to Earth is a brand new two-part story, premiering on Friday 10 April at 9pm on UKTV channel Dave.

It will be followed by another episode (Red Dwarf: Unplugged), which will feature the cast with no sets, no special effects and no autocue. Then the Easter weekend will be rounded off with Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind-the-scenes piece from the new production.

“When Lister’s busy day of annoying Rimmer is interrupted by a monstrous attack, it’s pretty much business as usual – until a shock development throws Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten back to planet Earth…”

For eight series – a total of 52 episodes – Dave Lister wanted to return to his home planet. Now it seems that at last he’ll get his wish!

Written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor, it will star the original cast (although the BBC news website mentions Charles, Barrie, John-Jules and Llewellyn only – nothing about Norman Lovett or Chloe Annett) and will begin shooting in February.

Show 39 – Captain Scarlet (1969)

January 25, 2009 Paul Leave a comment

Hello, and welcome to the latest show. A few days later than usual but better late than never.

So this show features our first subject with no real people in it. Captain Scarlet was Gerry Anderson’s first attempt at a more adult series following a desire to move into live action. Although CS was still using marionettes it wouldn’t be long before UFO went into production…

Anyway, Captain Scarlet is still one of the best remembered and loved of Century 21’s output and we’re covering the first three episodes.

As usual, you can download the episode via iTunes or the podcast feed, or directly by clicking here.
