Show 45: Doctor Who – The Massacre
Before you start listening to Show 45 please read the following Public Service Announcement.
You will shortly be entering the Dodo Zone. The public are advised not to stay in their homes. Go outside. Don’t turn on the television. Don’t look behind you and whatever you do, don’t blink. (Actually, scratch that, it’s been done)
Official advice is to try and enjoy the current episodic adventures of the daring time-traveller and his glamorous…er…male…assistant, Steven Taylor, as they risk their lives in revolutionary France – where attempting to pervert the course of revolutionary justice does not end in a Blackadder joke.*
During this historical escapade, the Doctor will make several mistakes (performing of lines NOT included), the most fateful of which occurs just before they leave. Steven tries desperately to persuade him to do the right thing – but to no avail.
And because of his uncharacteristic reluctance to meddle with history, we meet a creature more terrifying than the Daleks, more irritating than an RTD deus ex machina and more Mancunian than the Gallagher brothers (well… she is, then she isn’t, then she is, then she isn’t, then she is…)
Remember: The Massacre (of St Bartholomew’s Eve) is your one, last sniff at freedom for a few stories. Be warned…
As usual, you can download the episode via iTunes or the podcast feed, or directly by clicking here.
See you in two weeks…
*it would have done but I couldn’t decide which one I liked best – oh and I know that this story doesn’t take place in revolutionary France but the rather strained joke doesn’t work without it…
