Introducing… Scuttercast!

scuttercastI only found out this existed yesterday, but I would like to draw everyone’s attention to this new podcast that covers Red Dwarf.

It is bought to you by the guys over at The Red Dwarf Forum and the plan is that they are going to cover each episode of Red Dwarf, in order, from the start.  The first podcast came out on 18th March, and so far they have covered episodes one to three from Series One, with a Back to Earth special due out in the next couple of days.

It is done by a group of Dwarf fans who clearly know their stuff, but what is really nice about it is that they tell it like it is – this isn’t a group of people making out that everything about the show is perfect.  And they make some really valid points – for example, how out of character was Rimmer’s karate attack on the cat when they first mey him in episode one?  I hadn’t really thought about that, but I suppose it’s a hindsight thing.

The podcast is available as both an enhanced podcast or an mp3 version (oddly each has it’s own website, I assume that’s because of the way it’s hosted).  I listened to the enhanced version, and they have made a big effort to illustrate the points they are making, especially during the episode discussion, with a relevant picture.

I like this because it comes across as banter, just a conversation about a favourite topic that just happens to have been recorded (which is the feel we strive for!)  So if you like Red Dwarf (and let’s face it, you’d have to be a total goit not to!) I highly recommend this.  We will mention it on a future show, but as we record so far ahead of time I just wanted to give the guys a mention whilst they are still new!

I’d just like to give a massive thank you for this, as you’ve mentioned the ScutterCast has only been going a couple of episodes, and we’re hopefully improving with every episode :)
